BJP's future lies with Kashmir only: Tourism Minister | Forgets Jammu, Ladakh are part of JK | | Raj Sandeep Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 6: The Union Tourism Minister ignoring Jammu and Ladakh at Bharat International Tourism Bazar in Delhi has disappointed people of both these regions. The BJP Union Minister of Tourism Dr Mahesh Sharma mentioned Kashmir, Kashmir, nothing else but Kashmir a number of times while referring to tourism promotion in the state during the function, sources told Early Times. They said the Minister forgot the nomenclature of the State which is called Jammu and Kashmir and not only Kashmir. The function, which was attended by various dignitaries, including the JK Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, was organized by Tourism Department in Delhi for promotion of tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. Taking a dig at the limited knowledge of Union Tourism Minister, Rajeev Mehta, a tourism expert pointed out that it is shocking that a BJP leader of the stature of Union Minister holding Tourism portfolio has to learn that it is not Kashmir only, but it is a state comprising of three regions viz Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. "While speaking on an important occasion at the national level, Tourism Minister said all projects will go to Kashmir and Rs 500 crores have been earmarked for Kashmir tourism, our future lies with Kashmir etc," the expert added. He slammed the minister for ignoring Jammu and Ladkah. "It seems it was a deliberate attempt on the part of minister to appease PDP Chief Minister," he alleged., "For such a gullible minister, Kashmir seems for him to be the only important component of the State without virtually knowing that BJP has no footing in the Valley and it did not win a single seat either in state assembly or parliamentary elections in 2014," said, BJP worker Shiv Nath. He reminded the Minister that as compared to Kashmir region, people of Jammu and Ladakh fully supported BJP an party won 25 assembly seats from Jammu region and one parliamentary seat from Ladakh. Garish Kumar, a hotelier said that concern of central government to boost tourism sector in Kashmir is a welcome step but he was quick to add that Jammu is already confronted with the biased and discriminatory attitude of successive state and central governments towards people of Jammu region, especially on the tourism front for obvious reasons. "Such an irresponsible attitude of the Union Minister even after completion of over two years in the government speaks enough about dark days ahead for Jammu people under BJP regime," he rued. |
