Bovine smuggling bid foiled, 28 bovines rescued | | | Early Times Report
rajouri, Nov 5: Continuing its drive against the menace of bovine smuggling, Rajouri police on foiled a major bovione smugglimng bid on the other day and rescued 28 animals being smuggled to Kashmir Valley via historical Mughal Road . police sources said, "The animals were packed in two trucks in inhumane conditions and were being smuggled to valley via Mughal Road from Jammu region." However alert police personnel teamn led by inspector Chaman Gorkha, SHO from Rajouri Police Station intercepted two trucks near Sailani bridge and near Thandikasi village bearing registration Nos.JK02U-2969 and JK2AQ-9185 during frisking of the vehicles at about 8 pm on Thursday. "On noticing the police party the drivers and other occupants of the trucks abondoned their trucks by taking advantage of the darkness leaving behind the trucks along with animals, police sources said. "On serach of abondoned vehicles, police team recovered 28 bovine animals which accordingly were rescued, polce sources said. In this connection police have registered case FIR Nos. 7012/16 & 703/16 u/s 188 RPC and 3 PCA against the unidentified persons under case. For the last many months bovine smugglers are active in the district and many smugglers from Jammu and other parts of the State are also using histioric Mughal road to smuggle bovine animals and thus Rajouri police have enhanced nakas enroute valley. here it needs to mention that District Magistrate, Rajouri, on September 28 had issued a warrant under Public Safety Act (PSA) against a noted bovine smugglers Baj Ali son of Abdul Rashid resident of Nagrota (Jammu) who was later arrested by the Rajouri police from Jammu. he was booked under PSA and later after completion of legal formalities police shifted him to Kot Bahalwal jail Jammu. |
