2 months on, Women College Parade remains headless
11/5/2016 10:59:57 PM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 5: The lone autonomous college of Jammu province, Women College Parade, is without a regular Principal for last over two months now, reportedly owing to callous attitude of the Education Department.
Dr. Renu Goswami, Principal of the Women College, was on August 24 appointed as Incharge Director Colleges.
Since Dr Goswami's departure, the post of Principal has been lying vacant. Senior most faculty member of the college, Dr. Aruna Dubey, has been holding the charge of Principal, while the powers of Drawing and Disbursing have been given to Principal of B.Ed College, sources said.
They said since the Parade College has become an autonomous college under the Rashtriya Uchaatar Shiksha Abhiyaan (RUSA), all affairs of the college were to be run by the Principal. "The Principal is Chief Controller of Examinations in the college. Besides there are many other activities in the college for which a regular Principal is required", sources said.
Sources said though the semester system was also adopted by the college from the ongoing session, the semester examination of various courses is scheduled to start from last week of November.
"But there is confusion on various issues in the college and it is also unclear as whether the examinations will be held as per tentative schedule or not", sources said. They said it was also beyond comprehension as why the officials in Higher Education Department have so far been failed to appoint a principal in the college despite availability of many candidates.
An official of Higher Education Department alleged that it was inefficiency of the department as well as the minister concerned to appoint a Principal.
"There are reports that the new principal of the Parade College will be appointed following the promotion of over 60 professors as principals", an official said, adding that shortly after the opening of 'Darbar' in Jammu a principal would be appointed.
