BJP MLA gets more guards than a minister
11/5/2016 10:59:28 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 5: A BJP MLA is alleged to have got more guards than a minister at his private and official residences. Courtesy: A superintendent of police.
Both the MLA and the SP belong to the same area. Showering all the favours on the legislator, the police officer had deployed more guards at his private and official residences as compared to a minister, official sources alleged, saying he 'owns official residence in the posh Gandhi Nagar locality'.
No other MLA in the region had been given so many guards, sources informed, adding that the SP's conduct was against norms.
"The MLA has been given extra guards even as he faces no threat to his life. Though two MLAs and a minister live in the area that falls under his jurisdiction, he favours only the BJP MLA," sources alleged.
Sources said only one minister, who faced threat to his life from terrorists, had been given more guards than him.
The SP, whose job is also to make deployments at the residences of MLAs, ministers and other protected persons, had instructed the SHO concerned to unconditionally do all the works of the MLA.
"The works are mostly related to land deals and fights. A close relative of the MLA is engaged in the land business. Because of the police support, he has done several unlawful land deals, thereby making a huge amount of money," sources alleged.
Sources said the minister, who 'lives in the area of SP's jurisdiction, has complained against him to the PHQ and is also trying to get him transferred'.
Sources alleged that the police officer had been meeting the MLA at least once a week to get instructions from him.
