| Bureaucrat reinstates 'tainted' official | | | Avinash Azad

JAMMU, Nov 5: A bureaucrat in state administration has thrown rule books into bin, by reinstating a 'tainted' official.
According to sources, the official was placed under suspension by none other than a Deputy Commissioner, following complaints and evidences that the official had committed fraud. The Revenue official, according to sources, was found involved in fraud in an inquiry conducted by the Deputy Commissioner.
"Following complaints of frauds committed by the official, using his official positions, the DC directed concerned Tehsildar, to check the authenticity of allegations leveled against the official by victims about him (official) being hand in glove with land mafia. The official was placed under suspension on 19th January 2016", sources said.
They further said that the suspension of the revenue official was a tip of ice-berg. Efforts to save the official began next day after his suspension.
"The official did not appear for hearing, despite repeated summon for appearance issued by the DC during the departmental inquiry", sources said, and added that due to official failing to comply with DC's order ex-partie proceedings were conducted against him," sources added.
"Whereas, a departmental inquiry is being held against you since 20th January 2016 in connection with the allegation of colluding with land mafia to facilitate encroachment on state", notification for final appearance appeared in several newspapers.
The notification further in paragraph 6 read that you were unable to either appear personally or arrange the appearance of your witnesses on 8th February 2016, reportedly on the basis of health issues, the matter was re-fixed for hearing on 11th February 2016 on your own request, but you further failed to appear. "You are once again being informed to appear before the disciplinary/competent authority on 19th February alongwith the witnesses/documents you wish to produce in your defense, enabling the competent authority, to conclude the proceedings in time. You may further note that you have already failed to appear on two hearings", the notification read.
Sources said that under the patronage of mafia the official repeatedly over looked the orders issued by the DC.
"In the meanwhile, the mafia, successfully got the officail reinstated," sources said, and added why the bureaucrat issued order of reinstatement, when he had been transferred from the post of competent authority, is a million dollar question? |
