Jammu, Nov 5: The attendants' park of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) which is opposite to Col. R.N. Chopra Nursing Home, is in shambles as it is full of rodents' holes and garbage scattered here and there,
This attendant park was inaugurated by the then Minister for Medical Education, Er.R.S.Chib in presence of Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta on 28th of July, 2010 but the condition of park is very dilapidated condition for the last many months, mocking at the administration.
An attendant, Rakesh Kumar said that for the last five days he has been in GMC&H and usually there was huge rush of attendants in the hospital. "Whenever there is rush the attendants search for some place to take rest. Though park is there, near the police post but it is not in a condition to sit there", he said, adding that rodents have dug up entire park and plastic carry bags and other rubbish could be found everywhere, making it unsafe for sitting.
He further said the condition of park was very bad as there was no proper maintenance of it by administration. "The presence of rats in abundance, invites the snakes, making it dangerous for attendants to sit there for a while", he said.
Another attendant, Ganesh Jamwal said, "What is the requirement of making a park for the attendants, if it is not in properly maintained. There is huge rush of in each and every ward of GMC, OPD or other place and attendants want some open space for rest but there is no such place."
"The huts in the park are also in very pathetic condition as marks of spitting can be found on the walls of huts. Even people seldom visit the park due to danger of snakes", he said, adding that the administration must take cognizance of matter and provide excess space for attendants to relax and take rest.
Medical Superintendent of GMC&H Romesh Gupta said that he was unaware of the matter but assured that as the matter had been brought to his notice, he would shortly ensure proper maintainence of park.
