Extend helping hand to the sufferers of Pakistani firing: Prof Gupta
11/5/2016 9:36:38 PM

Early Times Report

jammu, Nov 5: Expressing his dismay over the blame game against each other by the politicians even over a problem of grave public importance arising out of the aggressive postures of the enemy causing barbarities along the LOC/Borders, the former union minister Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has stressed the need for some contribution by the public bodies to extend the helping hand to the sufferers of the Pakistani wrath instead of leaving them alone at the mercy of the administration.
Prof. Gupta pointed out that what was happening in the State and along the borders is not the new one. In the past too many a times Pakistan had been creating even more dangerous situation than that has developed now. The poor people living in the forward areas have always been the first victim of the attack.
It is the duty of the forces to respond to the challenge from across the border and they had been doing their job with valour and protecting the people and territories. In the situation there is the duty of every Nationalist to contribute his mite. And, it was a matter of pride and satisfaction in the past, many social and other organizations have been coming forward to extend their helping hand without leaving everything at the responsibility of the administration and that of the Government.
Prof. Gupta recalls that how the relief bodies led by great Pt. Prem Nath Dogra were set up in 1947, 1965 and even 1971 to provide succor to the sufferers of the onslaught of the invaders. This was taken as a nationalist duty for everybody, but now it sounds strange that instead of denouncing and condemning the enemy acts, the blame is being put against each other. It is not good. The first thing is to extend a helping hand to the forces, whatever could be possible, moreso, to the dislocated suffering people of the forward areas.
He recalled that in 2003 when he was minister at the center, he had managed an assistance of Rs. 38 crore and handed over to the State for providing relief to the sufferers of the forward areas.
