Early Times Report
Sunderbani, Nov 5: Alleging large scale bungling in the works executed by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department in Panchayat Lower Bhajwal falling under Sunderbani constituency, the team Sunderbani have demanded Vigilance probe to unearth all the wrong-doings committed by the officials with the active support of political class.
Addressing the press-conference here today, Member of the Team Sunderbani, Amit Sharma said that 20 years ago a Dugwell was constructed at Sodhra which supplies water to all areas upto Charnot. Since then no more source of water have been added and only works of pipes laying have been done at the cost of Rs 15 crores under five different projects which itself raises suspicion, he said.
Sharma further said that under the NRDWP project, pipes were laid in Bhajwal Panchayat at the cost of Rs 3.10 Crore ended in March 2015; and in Bhagat Mohalla at the cost of Rs 1.5 crore which is still underway. "The officials of PHE department have spent large sum of money in purchasing pipes and no work has been done to create new sources of water," he alleged. He mentioned that the life cycle of a dugwell is 15 years upto the maximum but, the Sodhra dugwell is working for the last 20 years which exposes the callousness of the authorities.
Sharma also cited more data related to the bunglings committed by the PHE higher-ups in Sunderbani and demanded Vigilance probe to unravel all the wrong-doings that have caused loss to public exchequer and inconvenience to the public in general. He urged the people to unite and raise voice against the menace of corruption. The Team Sunderbani also threatened to launch agitation against the corrupt officials if Vigilance probe is not ordered by the authorities at the earliest.
Those present in the press-conference included, Rajinder Sharma, Kulwant, Sarabjit Sharma, Pawan Kumar Sharma, Ashwani Kumar and Rajesh Parasher.
