| Local politics ruining Mandi's development works | | | Rajesh Tandon

Mandi, Nov 5: Fatehpur panchayat of Mandi tehsil lacks basic facilities due to the negligence of local level politics. According to the sources, the panchayat is located about nine kilometres away from Mandi tehsil headquarter and fifteen kilometres from Poonch headquarter.
The panchayat has three villages with the population of more than two and a half thousands voters as the locals are suffering since a long. People of villages Fatehpur, Kalani and Kehnu in this regard said that with the involvement of technical employees, panchayat secretary, Gram Rozgar Sewak (GRS, panch and sarpanch of the said panchayat crore of rupees have been embezzled during the last two panchayat sessions.
People of Kalani said, as flood 2014 has disturbed them and they have approached higher authorities of Rural Development Department many times, but no fruiful result came out. They said the political leaders and employees of the department have misused crore of funds under different schemes like MGNREGA, BRGF, SDRF, 14FC and IAY.
They said there are many job card holders who are yet waiting for first time work, but due to low political approach they failed to get their rights, as there is no cognizance in the department.
In this regard while connecting to concern BDO and district officer they assured that they have done well. They said they are satisfied and people have habit of raising fingers, officials have no problems to these types of lame excuses.
People in this regard appealed to chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, minister for RDD and other concern state level authorities to intervene in the matter and solve the problem of people. They further demanded for the inquiry of the matter through different agencies. |
