Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 5: Two days after authorities announced to go ahead with board examinations in the Kashmir valley, yet another school was gutted in a mysterious fire this time in north, official sources said.
About 30 educational institutions, including some partially, were damaged in mysterious fire incidents in the Kashmir valley, where educational institutions are closed due to strike called by separatists since July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander and two other militants were killed in an encounter in Anantnag.
Official sources said that fire broke out in L-shape building of Boys Middle School, Saidnara, Bandipora late last night. About half a dozen fire tenders were rushed to the spot and fire was brought under control, theys said adding fire caused major damage to building.
The cause of fire was not known, they said adding no one was injured.
Police claimed to have arrested about 30 alleged stone pelters also involved in setting up educational institutions on fire in the Kashmir valley, particularly in Anantnag and Kulgam districts during the past three months.
However, locals alleged that police, after being under pressure from the government and political parties, have falsely implicated some innocent youths in these incidents when main culprits are free.
Separatists, spearheading the present agitation have asked people to observe November 7 as day to protect schools in the valley.
Meanwhile, Board of School Education (BOSE) has announced to go ahead to hold 10th and 12th class examination in the middle of this month. However, the BOSE in another order said the students who are no interested to appear in November examinations will be given chance to appear in March.
But this concession will not be allowed to students of far flung and remote areas which remained cut off due to snowfall during winter and where examinations could not be held in March due to weather conditions.
