CWA resents curtail in food grains supply by CAPD | | Jai Kumar Verma | 11/5/2016 10:25:54 PM |
| Jammu, Nov 5: An urgent meeting of Consumers Welfare Association (CWA) was held to discuss the latest position of supply of food grains through Public Distribution outlets and issue of new Ration Cards by CAPD. Members expressed their deep resentment over sharp reduction in the quantity of Sugar, Rice and Atta to the ration card holders. The revised quantities issued now by the ration dealers (without any notification by CAPD) are: Atta- 3kg/person, Rice 1kg/person, sugar 400gm/person. As per Ration Dealers any additional quantity if required is issued at a higher rate. The members pointed out that new ration cards have not been issued to a large number of ration card holders. The members wanted to take up the matter with Director, CAPD at the earliest. Large number of members pointed out that it has been noticed that most of the chemist shops do not issue proper receipts/vouchers for sale of medicines to the customers. The practicing doctors also do not issue any receipts for Consultation Fee charged by them. The Health Department and the Drug Controller need to take serious note of it and take action against the defaulters. The working of the pathological Labs and Nursing Homes also needs to be regularized. The members appreciated the roll of Zulfikar Ali, Minister Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs who is taking personal interest this regard. The members pointed out that inspite of frequent assurances from transport authorities the matadors/mini-buses plying in the city do not display the schedule of fares in their vehicles for the benefit of commuters. |
