Separatists defy own calendar
Say goodbye to politics, people tell them
11/8/2016 11:46:06 PM

Early Times Report
srinagar, Nov 8: The separatists while calling a high level meet to discuss ways to end the current unrest in Valley have undermined their own protest calendar as they assembled at Geelani's house in a broad daylight.
The separatists while issuing a protest calendar for the ongoing week had asked people not to move out of their homes until 4 in the evening. The strike calendar had warned public as well as the private transport not to ply on roads in the daytime.
However, there were no other than the separatists themselves whose luxurious vehicles were treading towards Hyderpora, the residence of Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Not only the separatists but Geelani had convened the meeting with the transporters and the traders as well, asking them to reach at his office-cum-residence. What has made people at large to ridicule the separatists is the adoption of the two yard sticks they have been using for the people and for themselves.
"They legitimise the breaking of vehicles, burning of shops and looting of business during the day time and warn those who dare to challenge their monopoly but when it is their turn they start behaving living the autocrats," reads the status of one netizen in Valley.
"If they would have been sincere to their approach, they would have held the meeting at the time of deal (after 4 PM) but since they aren't in no way- the meeting has exposed them badly," he adds.
Pertinently, Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik had called leaders of trade, education, transport, civil society members, religious, social and political organizations, bar association and people from other walks of life for a meeting to "devise future strategy" on Tuesday.
The meeting commenced at 11 AM and all the top three separatists were present in the meet which witnessed participation of at least three hundred such invitees. The separatists which are spearheading the ongoing civil uprising in Kashmir were first allowed to meet on November 6, first time in last 120 days of restive situation.
Meanwhile, as Geelani along with Malik and Mirwaiz defied their own protest call has back fired with people from different walks of life terming such a strategy an 'utter failure.' "This speaks about volumes of how much capable the separatist leaders are. While asking poor people to stay inside their homes, they have virtually enjoyed the heyday amid much speculations," says a Srinagar-based writer.
A senior columnist wishing not to be named opined that it is a high time for the separatists to seek retirement. "They have failed people on all fronts. They have caused death and destruction everywhere in Valley and instigated people in 2008, 2010 and 2016. It is obvious that they (separatists) have failed on three occasions and have been the cause of killings in Kashmir. They will do well if they stop instigating people any further as time as revealed that they have empty stores and no planning in the kitty," the columnist said.
