NC sees Hurriyat-Govt deal | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Nov 8: Seemingly unnerved, opposition National Conference has raised queries over the sudden "freedom" having been granted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led government to the separatists who were otherwise under detention for over three months adding that some deal has taken place between the two groups. The NC spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu has been frequently taking to social media to raise such questions and to accuse senior separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani of having played with the future of Kashmir through his hartal politics. "Fishy that a Govt that put them under continuous arrest for 3 months suddenly allows Geelani, Yasin, Mirwaiz to meet. What's the compromise?," the NC spokesman asked in his recent post on Facebook. In another post he said: "Ironic that the "joint resistance leadership" said Azadi is nearer than ever is now looking for a way out? No more calendars? Hope so!" The NC leader said the understanding between Hurriyat and the Peoples Democratic Party led government was visible as Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in her address in Jammu on November 7 said she expects improvement in situation next week. "Meanwhile in Jammu @MehboobaMufti says 'Hope there should be some good news for us in next one week" (sic). Has Hurriyat really cut a deal?," the NC spokesman said in a tweet. On the frequent posts "exposing Hurriyat-PDP" deal, some of the trollers took the NC spokesman head on saying the party in opposition was unhappy if Kashmir gets back to normalcy only because Omar Abdullah was out of power. But Mattu responded saying "I want normalcy as much as anyone else but the day Hurriyat gives up and changes gears - shouldn't they be asked what changed? Forget about me and my party - shouldn't Hurriyat be held accountable for making people endure a four month long shutdown only to enter into some sort of a compromise in the end?" "Didn't Geelani Sb say Azaadi is very close and this time there won't be any let up till the issue is resolved? On their call people endured penury, starvation and rendered whatever sacrifices were asked for. Can't we now ask what has suddenly changed that the same Govt that arrested you for three months is now giving you police escorts and security to meet in Hyderpora?," the NC spokesman questioned. The government has softened its stand against separatists following flexibility shown by senior separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani, who last month met a delegation led by senior Bharatiya Janta Party leader and former Union minister Yashwant Sinha. Geelani subsequently asked Huriyat M Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to hold talks with the visiting 5-member delegation |
