Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 9: Anganwadi workers and helpers under the banner of J&K National Trade Union Front on Wednesday held a protest outside the office of Divisional Commissioner, Panama Chowk, here to press the State Government and Higher Authorities of ICDS Mission for immediate release of pending honorarium of workers and helpers, finalization of their seniority and promotion as Supervisor. Hundreds of Anganwadi workers and helpers from different ICDS projects of Jammu province participated the protest and raised voice against the delaying policies of higher authorities of the department who have miserably failed even to frame the new recruitment rules after separation of ICDS from Social Welfare Department, due to which all promotion avenues of the Supervisors, workers and helpers are withheld. The protesting workers were raising slogans in support of their demands urging the state govt. and higher authorities of the department for immediate settlement of the demands. While addressing protesters, Mohammad Gafoor Dar, State President JKNTUF condemned the callous attitude of the State Government particularly the ICDS authorities who have failed to settle the burning demands of workers till date despite repeated requests to the concerned authorities and through Press platform also. Dar said that in this situation the workers and helpers are left with no alternative except to intensify the agitation. Dar further said that the departmental authorities should not test the patience of the workers and helpers who have to suffer for months together for their due honorarium and the authorities just act as silent spectators. If the issues are not responded and addressed properly then we will be left with no alternative except to launch a state wide agitation during assembly session in Jammu. Beside Dar, Ratna Devi, Mumtaz Begum, Tripta Devi, Irshad Begum, Swarna, Lalita Devi, Ravina Akhther, Bandana, Sumita, Satwanter Sharma, Shahna Akhter, Sandeepka, Lalita, Hanifa, Mehajbeen, Surinder Kaur, Kanta Devi, Shahana Akhter, Zahida Akhter, Shahista Parveen, Rifit Begum, Kamla Devi, Rajinder Kumar and Barkat Ali also addressed the rally.
