2 foreign terrorists killed in Watergam Baramulla | Pak snipper kills soldier at Machil | | S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report Baramulla, Nov 9: Two foreign terrorists were killed today in an encounter with security forces in Dursoo village of Rafiabad area in Baramulla district of north Kashmir. A top police official said, " following a tip off information about the presence of terrorists in Watergam area, a joint team of Army, police and SOG launched an operation in Watergam area of Baramulla district, the encounter erupted at around 4:00 pm today.The two foreign terrorists were spotted near shrine after which they were given an opportunity to surrender but they fired indiscriminately on security forces, the official told early times. The official said that, the operation was well planned and executed so as to avoid any collateral damage as it was the matter of a shrine where they had taken shelter, after which the terrorists were compelled to come out of the particular shrine. After few hours of encounter, two terrorists were neutralized and two AK-47 rifles and other war like store were recovered from their possession, the official added. However sources said that, "two foreign terrorists were spotted today in the revered shrine of Sarwar Sahib in Dursoo village of Rafiabad area, after which the whole area was cordoned off by the security forces.A joint team of army's 22, 32 Rashtriya Rifles, Special operations Group (SOG) Rafiabad and Sopore and police launched an operation against the terrorists who had taken shelter in the shrine from yesterday late evening, said sources. Sources said that, the security forces cordoned off the whole area and restrictions were put in place for public moments so that terrorists could not escape from the shrine. Superintendent of Police (SP) Sopore Harmeet Singh told early times that, two foreign terrorists were killed today in an encounter in Watergam Rafiabad, added that they were identified as Abu Rafi and Abu Mazz.Meanwhile ET has learnt from its sources that, " one army jawan was killed today in the afternoon in Pak sniper fire at Machil sector of Kupwara district in north Kashmir. A senior army official said that, Pakistan resorted to heavy mortar shelling on our posts near the line of control in Machil sector. The terrorists are trying to sneak to this side of Line of Control (LoC) and our brave soldiers are giving befitting reply to the enemies, the official added. |
