Gurpurab celebrated with fervour in Jammu, Sikhs offer prayers of peace | | | JAMMU, Nov 14: Sikh fraternity today offered prayers for peace across the region to mark Gurpurab celebration on the occasion of 548th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Founder of Sikhism?with fervour in this winter capital of the state. The main function was held at Gurdwara Yadghar Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, here. The programme was organised by District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu in which large number of devotees from all parts of the state participated, to seek the blessings of Guru Sahib. Ragi Jatha of Bhai Manjeet Singh Ji of Sri Darbar Sahib, Sri Amritsar, Bhai Gurpreet Singh Ji of Jalandhar and locals recited the Shabad Kirtan. Prominent Religious Preacher Bhai Parkash Singh Ferozpuri of Delhi threw light on the life and teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev who gave the message of love, brotherhood, peace and equality of human beings. On the occasion Resolutions highlighting religious, social and political problems being faced by the minority Sikh community in the state were also presented. T S Wazir, Chairman, State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board while addressing the gathering greeted the Sangat and urged the State and Central Governments to fulfil the genuine and legitimate demands of minority Sikh community and assured the gathering that Committee and State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board with the cooperation of Sikh Sangat shall continue its efforts for the redressal of all the genuine demands of Sikh community of State. |
