Jammu, Nov 14: Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (PLS), Jammu conducted its fortnightly literary meet at Tagore Academy, Rani Talab, Digiana, Jammu. Dr. Monojit was the chief guest on this occasion and S. Didar Singh, a well known Punjabi and Hindi writer of the state presided over the meeting in connection with Gurupurab celebrations. Jang S Verman, a well known artist, columnist on art & culture and secretary, PLS, was present on this occasion. Literary creations in the form of papers were presented and poetry recited by the well known Punjabi writers attending the meeting. S Harbhajan Singh 'Anjan' read out his paper on the theme-'Aurat', throwing light on women's position in the light of various sections of the society and the approach of Shri Guru Nanak Dev in raising her status in the society. Dr. Monojit presented his paper on 'Guru Gobind Singh Ji Da Pahila Yudh' explaining the prevailing situation and the conditions consequently leading to a conflict with the hill Rajas. A poetry recitation session was conducted in which Amar Singh Kuka, M S Kamra, Rahi Simbalpuria, Piara Singh Dhanjal, Harbhajan Singh 'Upashak' and Suraj Singh 'Suraj' presented their poetry on the themes relevant to the Gurpurab celebration on the birth of Gur Nanak Dev's birthday. Earlier welcoming the participants, Dr. Baljeet Singh Raina, General Secretary, PLS said that the organization has been able to manage its activities regularly and has maintained continuity of its fortnightly literary meets without any break during the last three years. In his presidential note S. Didar Singh presented his views about the programme presented during the literary meet. Dr. Monojit also expressed his views on the articles and poetry presented during the meet. S. Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, President, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, extended the vote of thanks. |
