"Aurangzeb s/o Mohd Hadayat a resident of village Naili in Manjakot tehsil in Rajouri district was the final year student of Diploma in Civil Engineering and reportedly died in the Pathankote hospital on Saturday under suspicious circumstances," one of family members said.
The body was brought to his native village today morning and people of the area held a protest demonstration by keeping it on Jammu-Poonch highway alleging he was murdered and demanded fair probe involving Rajouri police in the investigations.
On the assurance by officiating Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri that he will contact SSP, Pathankote in this regard, people allowed traffic to resume.
According to Mohd Shafayat, cousin of the deceased who was with him in the hospital, said that the colleagues of Aurangzeb have informed the police different stories.
"Some said deceased has scuffle with other Hostel boarders and had a fall from third floor resulting critical head injuries, while some claimed Aurangzeb used pipe to go descend to ground floor after finding his room locked from outside and in the process he fell down and got critically injured," said Shafayat.
He added nurses told him that Aurangzeb was recovering but at about 9.00pm on Saturday, staff on duty informed that Aurangzeb had died due to cardiac arrest.
On Sunday after completing legal formalities, Pathankot police handed over the body to the family members who reached Naili (Manjakot) in the morning today and held protest demonstration.
