More than 60% residents of Chenab Valley without Aadhar cards
People being fleeced for downloading Aadhar

Kishtwar, Nov 17: At a time when Aadhar has been made mandatory document for availing various schemes, jobs etc, but more than 60% of population of the Chenab Valley comprising three districts including Ramban, Doda, and Kishtwar is without this unique identification document.
Moreover, Aadhar Card operators have been looting people by charging Rs 200 for registration and Rs 100 for downloading of cards. "Aadhar cards operators are not working for registration of cards and if they works for registration of cards they charges an amount of 200 and 100 for registration and downloading of cards for a person," said residents of Chenab Valley.
They further said that a middle class family having six members have to pay Rs 1200 and Rs 600 for registration and downloading of Aadhar Cards and in Kishtwar and Doda district peoples living in remote villages are facing hardship in filling up forms to avail benefits of Government schemes.
A local resident Mohammad Yousuf said that he had applied for the registration of Aadhar Card four months ago and Rs 200 was charged by Aadhar operator and today when he approached to a cyber café for checking the registration he was asked that your Aadhar Card has been rejected and you shall apply for new registration.
He further added that he was in dire need of Aadhar Card for registration of job card, opening of bank account and availing the benefit of Ujjwala scheme under Pardhan Mantri Ujjwala Youjna (PMUY) and in absence of it, he was not able to get benefits from centrally sponsored schemes.
To get Aadhar Card has become headache for more than 60% people living in different regions of Doda and Kishtwar districts and are regularly moving to Aadhar operating centers for registration and downloading costing 200 and 100 for a card of one person .
