JKMSCL fails to provide surgical threads to hospitals | | | Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 17: Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supply Corporation Limited (JKMSCL) which is bound provide essential to medicines and allied material to the hospitals but it has failed to provide even surgical threads (Sutures) since its inception. Doctors within GMC&H Jammu told Early Times that there are different types of surgeries and more than 20 surgeries including major and minor are being conducted in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu and its associated hospitals as well as more than 15 types of Surgical Sutures (surgical Sutures that are used to stitch cuts during operations). "But due to unavailability of vital things within Province's major hospitals and even district level hospitals, doctors having no choice but to ask attendants of patients to purchase from markets which some of costly and out of reaches of poor's pockets, "they stated and adding that some time causing heated arguments take place between patients and doctors as well as attendants accused doctors on duty for not providing basic things. Moreover, the JKMSCL has remained in controversies for bad reasons since its inception and administrations of many hospital alleged that the Corporation has failed to meet demands of the government hospitals, they claimed. They further added that the GMC&H and its associated hospital have shown least bother to ask JKMSCL to provide the sutures till date putting patients in huge hardship before the conduct operation by forcing them to purchase from the markets. "Surprisingly, the administration of above said hospitals purchase the sutures own but occasionally only for VIP patients, "doctors alleged and adding it is basic vital thing and it should be available in all the government hospitals but reality, the hospitals don't have. Feeling frustrated and helpless, an attendant, Rashpal Singh, said that his son has sustained injures in his right leg and interestingly, the doctors who were on duty asked to purchase Surgical Sutures, needle and other from the markets which exposed the claims of Health Ministry that all medical facilities are being provided in government hospitals. When contacted Managing Director Dr Yashpal Sharma could not be available for his comments. |
