SHO 'patronizes' drug mafia
11/17/2016 11:13:50 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 17: An SHO, posted in a police station of Jammu district, is nowadays alleged to be minting money by promoting the sale of drugs through his informers, including cops and anti-social elements.
"He has established a vast network of contacts, including locals and cops of other agencies, who keep him abreast of the activities of drug peddlers and their main dealers," police sources alleged.
"Drug peddlers are picked up on the tip-off provided by informers. If a deal is struck between them and the SHO, they are released unconditionally, but if they fail to meet the SHO's demands, they get booked under law," sources alleged.
Sources said it was surprising to find that the drug peddlers of the areas that 'fall under his jurisdiction often get trapped in the jurisdictions of other police stations, but they are never caught by the SHO. This is the biggest proof of his involvement in drug trafficking', sources alleged.
A major controversy had erupted at the time of his posting as SHO of the police station. "He operates under a set system. As soon as he receives information about the presence of drug peddlers at a particular place, he himself carries out the raid and apprehends them. The money thus extracted from them in lieu of their release is shared by the SHO with the informers and cops of other agencies who are part of the racket," sources alleged.
Sources alleged that while he was promoting drug mafia under the nose of senior officers, no action had so far been taken against him.
