DIG returns from central deputation, Govt assures plum posting
11/17/2016 11:12:54 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 17: A DIG rank officer, who had proceeded on central deputation about seven years back, has returned to the state as the government has assured him that he would be given a "plum" posting on his return.
"He has been called back by the government and assured a plum posting, but there is a doubt in this regard as three more well-connected DIGs, including two IPS officers, are also in the race to acquire the big post," sources said.
A final decision in this regard would, however, be taken by the government. Both the IPS officers have already served in Jammu as SSPs. While one was transferred to another wing on complaint basis, the other is presently posted in Kashmir. The third officer, who is in the race, is already posted as DIG in Jammu region.
The DIG came back to the state only two days back and is presently attached with the PHQ. "He is likely to replace a DIG in Jammu region as the government has almost made up its mind to transfer the latter. A senior BJP leader has also stopped supporting him, so his transfer is likely to take place in the next cabinet meet as and when it is held," sources said.
"After the DIG has returned, the other three DIGs have activated all their resources to make sure that they get the coveted post. The officer had proceeded on central deputation when he was of SSP rank. He got promoted as DIG while working with a central agency. He has been called back as the state is faced with the shortage of DIG rank officers," sources said.
