Early Times Report

Kishtwar Nov 17: After joint efforts of District and Sub Divisional Administration, the long pending land dispute of Government Degree College Chatroo settled when team of officials headed by Sub Divisional Magistrate Chatroo Qazi Masood handed over the possession of the disputed land to JKPCC.
As per the details available with "Early Times" SDM Chatroo today settled one of the long pending disputes.
The said disputed land was acquired by the District administration in the year 2010 but due to some apprehensions of the landowners the execution and construction of Degree college Chatroo could not take place despite the fact that former Higher Education Minister Abdul Gani Malik also laid the foundation stone of the said college building.
It was not only SDM Chatroo, some 20 days ago Deputy commissioner Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan also intervened into the matter and personally visited the site of the degree college chatroo and gave directions to the sub divisional magistrate Chatroo for handing over the acquired land to JKPCC for construction and also held a meeting with the land owners several time. DC Kishtwar despite repeated directions from the higher authorities prefer not to use the force against some of the land owners who were creating hurdles in the execution of construction work.
It is pertinent to mention here that several attempts were made every year to convince the land owners regarding the importance of construction of Degree College Chatroo in this backward area of the District far, but some of the landowners gave no heed to the repeated pleas made by the successive government officials and instead were adamant not to give their land for construction of degree college Chatroo whose construction primarily was of paramount importance.
Before handing over the land to JKPCC. SDM Chatroo in presence of Tehsildar Chatroo Suman Sharma, SHO Chatroo Anayat Hussain and Xen JKPCC sorted out the matter that was looking like an impossible task and assured the landowners that their genuine issues will be taken care off and urged them to give full cooperation to the administration. He thanked them for letting him to hand over the said land to JKPCC. While talking to "Early Times" SDM Chatroo Qazi Masood said that the dispute was over now and it is the high time for JKPCC to complete the construction work in shortest possible time. He said in his conversation with the landowners, he also told them about the urgency of the construction of degree college Chatroo which will give benefit to the young generation of Sub Division Chatroo who are presently wondering in search of higher education outside home and after construction of the college, they will get the same in their home locality..
