India, Pak DGMOs speak over hotline | | | Agencies New Delhi, Nov 23: In an important development, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan spoke to each other over the telephonic hotline on Wednesday. The talks were about the ongoing firing at the Line of Control (LoC). Top sources in the security establishment said, "The proposal was made by Pakistan at the weekly telephonic hotline call on Wednesday and the Indian side has agreed." Normally, the weekly telephonic talk over the hotline is conducted by a Colonel-level officer. DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh talked to his Pak counterpart and expressed grief over civilian casualties in Pakistan. He stated that the retaliatory firing by the Indian troops has only been carried out targeting places where Pakistan initiated ceasefire violation. In the past two months, both sides have lost Army men as well as loss to civilian lives and property in the cross-LoC firing. |
