Poor performance of BJP mantris angers public | Ex-MLA beats hasty retreat in Bhalwal | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 23: The dismal performance of BJP ministers has been a cause of concern for the party, with senior functionaries as well ground level workers facing the wrath of the people in Jammu region. According to party sources, a senior BJP functionary and former MLA had to beat a hasty retreat during his recent visit to Bhalwal. The BJP leader, who had gone to visit a party worker who had met with an accident recently, left in a hurry after the local residents showed resentment against the party and its ministers for failing to solve the problems of the people of the area. "The BJP leader had to beat a hasty retreat as people sought reply from him as to why the party, which represents the constituency in the Assembly, has failed to repair the local road which is in dilapidated condition," sources said. The people also showed resentment over the failure of authorities to construct a bridge on the local nallah which was washed away in 2014 floods. There is resentment among the people not in Bhalwal area only but in most of the areas of Jammu region. The condition of roads is worst in various parts of Jammu city and its outskirts. The dismal performance of the BJP minsters can be gauged from the fact that in various areas the people have not been paid the wages under MGNEREGA since 2012. In Bhalwal block alone, Rs 5 crore liabilities are pending, of which Rs 3 crore liabilities are of labourers only. Sources said corruption is another grave issue which the coalition has failed to check and BJP's claims have proved totally hollow in this regard. Rates have been fixed for posting and transfers of engineers, doctors and others. The people on ground level have not got any relief after the BJP came into power. The people had high expectations from the BJP, but the MLAs have failed to come to their expectations and the public-BJP gap has increased during the present dispensation . Sources said amid the growing public resentment, the senior leadership of the party convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday evening to deliberate on the issue and send its feed back to High Command which has sought a report from it before showing door to some ministers, sources added. |
