srinagar, Nov 23: Various investigating agencies have received complaints about some officials of the Kashmir University for their alleged involvement in various frauds that happened at the varsity over the years.
Sources revealed that Vigilance Organization Kashmir (VOK) has received complaints against some officials of the varsity who are facing the charges of embezzlement of funds.
They further revealed that the VOK has 1received the complaints against some higher officials of the Kashmir University regarding the misuse of funds, worth crores of rupees.
"There are also allegations of back door appointments most of the relatives of some former and present higher officials of the varsity. We are in communication with the varsity authorities to provide us the details regarding these erring officials, who are facing charges of embezzlement of funds," an official of the VOK said. "There are also complaints about some former officials. We will also probe against those tainted retired officials."
Complaints also galore about re-appointment of some retired officials by the Kashmir University.
It has been learnt that number of committees were also formed but their reports were shelved for some vested interests.
Similarly, sources said the Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir has also received scores of complaints against tainted officials and seeking action against them.
"Once these complaints are verified, probe will be initiated accordingly," an official of the Crime Branch said.
While an official of the Kashmir University said the varsity will fully cooperate with the investigating agencies.
He said the competent authority will examine the papers, and the proper procedure will be followed. "Then the ultimate decision will be taken on that," he added.
Earlier, sources said the VOK had probed against some senior officials but the outcome of the probe was yet to be known. "Some professors are also facing charging of embezzlement of funds meant for the project work of the researchers."
The name of a former senior official whose names also surfaced in the BOPEE scam was also allegedly involved in computer scam in the varsity.
"Some senior officials, who have strong political backing, are also facing serious corruption charges. They had tried to influence the probe committees of the university," a senior official of the varsity said.
There were also complaints that the Kashmir University vehicles were being misused by the officials. |
