Srinagar, Nov 23: Prof Amitabh Mattoo today resigned as Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's political advisor, shocking the ruling PDP. Mattoo, who was considered as a close confidant of Mehbooba, submitted his resignation to the Chief Minister, raising eye brows in the political circles. Mattoo's resignation is seen as a big blow to the PDP. Earlier, PDP's founder member and Lok Sabha member from Srinagar-Budgam constituency, Tariq Hameed Karra had resigned from the party and also as an MP. Karra had said that he was not happy with the PDP-BJP alliance and called "unnatural alliance." Meanwhile, PDP insiders said since Mattoo was not only very close to late CM, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed but also to Mehbooba, his resignation has surprised the party members. "After Mufti's death, Mattoo found himself pushed towards the corner. He was appointed as an advisor but it is being said that nobody would seek his advice. So he tendered resignation," sources added. |
