Reliable sources from Gurez told Early Times that Pakistani troops fired heavy mortar shells in Gurez sector. Few shells landed near the dam site of Kishen Ganga Hydroelectric Power Project (KGHEPP). Sources said it was after 13 years that there was ceasefire violation by Pakistani army in the Gurez sector. The dam site of 330 Megawatt KGHEPP came under heavy shelling after Pakistani army fired several mortars. All employees of HCC were called back to take shelter at safer places, said sources. A top police official said Pakistan army violated ceasefire in Gurez sector today and in response Indian army had given befitting reply to the enemy. There was no loss of life or property till last reports came in, the official said. He said that after India carried surgical strikes in Pakistan, the Pakistani army and militants want to disrupt peace in J&K and it is their frustration that they are violating ceasefire along the LoC. Pertinently, three Indian soldiers were martyred in an encounter with militants near the LoC in Machil sector of Kupwara district in north Kashmir on November 22. |
