SKIMS medico dies due to electrocution, electric blanket develops short circuit during night | | | Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 23: An Associate Professor of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura was found dead at his home in the Sanat Nagar area of the summer capital of the state today in the morning. Reports said that the Associate Professor identified as Dr. Wilayat Nabi Buch, was electrocuted to death while he was sleeping at his home during the dead of the night. Due to the electrocution the doctor was charred to death and by this time this story was filed the post-mortem of body was yet to be carried out. The shocking death of the medico sent shock waves among the residents of the area and the doctor fraternity is also shocked over the untimely as well as tragic death of Dr. Wilayat. Reports said that Dr. Wilayat had kept the electric blanket of his bed on during the night. The electric blanket developed some fault during the night and there was short circuit in it. Following the short circuit the doctor was charred to death and as the morning set in the news about death of medico spread like a wildfire. Dr. Wilayat was putting up at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) quarters in the Sanat Nagar area since his wife works as SDE in BSNL. He was working as Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at SKIMS-Soura and had returned from his duties late in the night on Tuesday. Reports said that after returning from duties the doctor had kept on the electric blanket. While he was sleeping the electric blanket developed a short circuit thus leading to death of the medico. Police also have confirmed that Dr. Wilayat died due to a short circuit in electric blanket. His death has been widely condoled by people in general and particularly by medical fraternity.
