Army pays tribute to slain soldiers | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 23: The Army on Wednesday paid rich tributes to its soldiers - General Manoj Kumar Kushwah, Riflemen Prabhu Singh and Shashank Kumar Singh - killed in Pakistan's dastardly action along the Line of Control in Machil sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district yesterday. Chinar Corps Commander Lieutenant General J.S. Sandhu and all ranks paid their homage to the martyrs in a solemn wreath laying ceremony held in B.B. Cantt Srinagar. Rifleman Prabhu Singh, who hailed from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and is survived by his wife, would have turned 25 today. General Manoj Kumar belonged to Gazipur in Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his wife and two young children while Rifleman Shashank Kumar Singh, also from the same place, is survived by his parents. The mortal remains of the martyrs will be flown to their native places where the last rites will be held with full military honours. The army said that it stands beside the families of the brave hearts in this hour of grief and remains committed to their well-being in future |
