PDP blamed for ulterior reason by BJP | | | For the BJP grapes are sour. Nothing beyond this. Despite the fact that the BJP shared power with the PDP for over three years now it is raking up the issue of revocation of Article 370 of the constitution which grants Jammu and Kashmir a special status within the union of India. Unnecessarily it has blamed Mehbooba for not allowing the BJP to revoke Article 370. Yes, the BJP may be correct to some extent but what about its claim that its coalition with the PDP delayed the BJP's mission of building Ram Mandir or cleansing the Ganga river or working out a plan for bringing about uniform civil code and tirade against cow slaughter. Did Mehbooba or for that matter the PDP raised any hurdle in the BJP's mission of cleaning the river Ganga and bringing about uniform civil code. The PDP has not mentioned its opposition to the construction of Ram Mandir but it opposed moves on the part of BJP for the revocation of Article 370. Days after the BJP withdrew its support to the PDP-led government in the State, its national general secretary and MP Anil Jain has said his party was committed to five things including revocation of Article 370, which accords a special status to the state. Listing Uniform Civil Code, Ram Mandir, the Ganga and cow, as other subject matters of party's commitment, Jain said these issues can only be delayed for some time depending on the developing situation in the country. "I am serious of my words. The BJP is committed to the issues of cow, Ganga, Uniform Civil Code, Article 370 and Ram Mandir. Given the emerging situation, one or the other might take time to get fulfilled, Jain has said. BJP has not forgotten anything and it is committed to the revocation of the Article 370. The BJP and the PDP had agreed on status quo on the issue in their Agenda of Alliance (AOA), chalked out before the formation of the coalition government in the state. Neither the Government's plan to construct Ram Mandir or about the programme of bringing about uniform civil code or that protecting cow against slaughter were not at all mentioned in the Agenda Of Alliance and how was PDP to be blamed for moving against these issues? Yes, PDP did not agree to the revocation of Article 370 which is dear to the heart of every Kashmiri because they mistakenly believe that whatever concession they secure from the centre, including the financial help is the result of Article 370. They should be reminded that under Article 370 no central law could be extended to the state of Jammu and Kashmir without the approval of the state legislature. They need to be reminded that several hundred central laws have been made applicable to Jammu and Kashmir after the consent of the successive state Governments and the successive state legislatures and hence the utility of Article 370 seems to be redundant. |
