RTI reveals land grab by Tourism Department ?
Construction in no construction Zone
7/9/2018 11:38:16 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 9: A RTI reply has revealed that Tourism Department has grabbed a piece of Government land around Pampore area which incidentally falls under the no construction zone.
Details available with Early Times reveal that a piece of Government land (Kah Charrai) measuring 2 kanals approximately has been illegally grabbed by Tourism department for construction of a cafeteria.
Sources say that cafeteria is being constructed at a place which has already been declared as No Construction Zone by the Government.
After feeling aggrieved with this illegal act some locals of Kadlabal Pampore area lead by one Ghulam Nabi Mir filed an application before Deputy Commissioner office Pulwama who forwarded the same to Tehsildar Pampore.
As per RTI application the information seeker sought answer to the following questions :
The information seeker Ghulam Nabi Mir R/O Kadlabal Pampore sought copy of Government order / allotment wherein Kah-Charai land has been transferred to Tourism Department / JKTDC at Kadlabal Pampore near Hooen Mazar under survey No: 1733 ? In addition to it copy of the cabinet order was also sought which paved way for this land transfer. The RTI application further reads as :
"If there is no order for construction how Revenue department allowed the construction of the cafeteria? Compensation received by Revenue department for this land transfer (if any) from Tourism Department & purchase of alternate land made (if any) as per directions of High Court ?
While responding to these queries Tehsildar Pampore vide communication No: TP-OQ/356-57 Dated: 2/7/2018 said :
"No Government order is available and no compensation has been received from the Tourism department. The reply further says that previous DC Pulwama directed for construction of the Tourism cafeteria "
" If this is a no construction zone and land has not been legally transferred to Tourism department , how can the Department of Tourism grab this land and construct a building ?
This is clear case of land grabbing and we appeal Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai who fortunately looks after Revenue / Tourism departments both to get this matter probed within a short span of time " said Ghulam Nabi Mir, RTI applicant
