VRS union holds dharna, demands release of pending arrears | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 20: A demonstration and dharna was staged by VRS Union here today near Press Club of Jammu Exhibition Ground. The protest was held under the leadership of Dev Raj Bali, president VRS Union. The slogans were raised against the erstwhile state government and J&K Transport Higher Authority for not releasing the legitimate dues of 6th Pay Commission arrears and Cost of Living Allowance(COLA) arrears since 1999 and pension benefits which comes to total amount of Rs 16,76,49,497 of 742 VRS/GHS employees of J&K SRTC. The protesters said they have been struggling for the last more than 8 years for their legitimate dues whereas the government, has harassed the VRS/GHS employees of the J&K SRTC and in this long struggle 38 VRS/GHS employees of Jammu province have breathed their last as they could not afford medical treatment for want of funds adding that who is responsible for irreparable losses to their families. They appealed the Governor to give a patience hearing to their genuine demand for clearance of their legitimate pending arrears and dues. |
