Lack of accommodation, Jammu AYUSH dispensaries cries for government attention

Jammu, July 20: The AYUSH dispensaries situated in winter capitals of state now crying for government attention, as 70 percent dispensaries of the district sans proper accommodation runs in single room rented building.
According to sources only in Jammu district out of 50, 30 AYUSH dispensaries are running in violation of Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) guidelines, since establishment there is no proper infrastructure for these health centers.
As per IPHS norms a AYUSH dispensaries should have four to five rooms with facilities of waiting room, one room for two- four beds, and a store and one for clinic/ office. And the facilities of toilet in each room and it are essential for waiting room. But surprising in Jammu district most of the health centers have no facilities of potable water, electricity and others which are running in single room, have no sitting arrangement only one Chair for faculty, an Almirah and a table are available.
"Residential accommodation for faculty is a distant dream but, state government has failed to establish essential building infrastructure to patient in such health centers", sources alleged, said that most of the dispensaries established by government in rural areas and are not interested to provide proper building, out of five staff members only one Pharmacist who are running these health centers for years and the post of medical officer and other pharmacist are vacant for years.
Sources further said that people resided in rural areas have not well educated, thanks god AYUSH medicines have no side effect otherwise how many tragedy would be happened, as Pharmacist are treating peoples for years in these dispensaries.
ISM Director General was not available for comments despite repeated calls.
