Mr Abdullah, first talk about Kashmir | Minorities in India | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 20: NC president and former J&K CM Farooq Abdullah on July 19 made a ridiculous statement that India's secular fabric was being changed and the Muslims across the country were being killed. "The communal tension is growing across country. Muslims are being killed. There are some persons who act like mad dogs and think they are all powerful. This is not the India we believe in," Farooq Abdullah told a gathering at the residence of his party member and former law minister Mir Saifullah. "These forces don't want that there should be peace and friendship between India and Pakistan. When the two countries are at loggerheads the people in J&K are the most affected. We are going through a tough phase and we are becoming the victims of the hostilities," said Farooq Abdullah, who is also MP from Srinagar. Farooq Abdullah crossed all the lines when he said what he said. In India, minority communities are the most privileged ones. All political parties speak and work for them. The Congress-led UPA Government had said that the "minorities have the first right over everything Indian" and it had launched a number of schemes for them. People had said that the rise of BJP to power would lead to the discontinuation of the schemes meant for the minorities, but the BJP didn't do that. It continued all those schemes. On July 18, the BJP-led NDA government extended these schemes for another three years, thus establishing that there was no difference between the UPA and the NDA and still Farooq Abdullah said what he said overlooking the sad state of affairs prevailing in West Bengal, UP, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu where the majority community is under grave threat. But more than that, Farooq Abdullah conveniently ignored Kashmir from which he hails. It was he and his ally Congress, which created such dreaded terror organizations like Hizbul Mujahideen by subverting democratic processes in the Valley and creating a situation that led to the wholesale migration of miniscule minority of Kashmiri Hindus in January 1990, when he himself was playing all the shots and eventually fled away to London to lead a safe and secure and luxurious life. Farooq Abdullah should have told his audience at Kupwara that Kashmir was once 100% non-Muslim but its demographics were completely changed by "mad dogs" by January 1990. But he didn't do that. Instead, he referred to some stray incidents taking place here and there to denigrate India and strengthen the forces of hate. It is the like of Farooq Abdullah who muddy the Indian waters by making irresponsible statements for vote bank politics. |
