Inaugurated in March, Jammu ropeway awaits completion | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 20: The much awaited ropeway project from Mubarak Mandi to Mahamaya temple of Jammu which is considered to be the lifeline for Jammu to attract tourists was inaugurated by former Minister of State, Tourism in the month of March this year is still incomplete and yet to open for tourists and visitors. Sources informed Early Times that the project was started by previous coalition regime of NC-Congress in year of 2011 by allotting construction work between Mubarak Mandi to Mahamaya temple to Shahabad to Jammu Kashmir Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC) but after missing several deadlines, the project is still craving for government intention. "During allotment of the project, the funding agency- Tourism Department had fixed two year time for its completion but the apathy of BJP government towards Jammu hampered work on the project", said sources. They further said that in the month of March , Minister of State of Tourism, Priya Sethi had inaugurated a partially complete project by taking ride from Bahu to Mahamaya Temple. An assurance to throw the ropeway open shortly was also given. But three months on, the project awaits completion. The previous governments had promised projects including Artificial Tawi Lake, Ropeway project from Mubarak Mandi to Mahamaya Temple, Suchetgarh Border but the PDP - BJP government did not show interest. After facing severe criticism from Jammu region for neglect, the BJP ministry in a hurry inaugurated the incomplete Ropeway project in March to project their achievements but the project is still underway and yet to open for public. |
