Jammu, July 20: An awareness programme on catalyzing, rural employment through cultivation, processing, value addition and marketing of aromatic plants under CSIR-Aroma Mission was organized on 19th July 2018 by CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu at Balesar, Jodhpur Rajasthan in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Jodhpur Rajasthan. A team of scientist from CSIR- IIIM, Dr Ravi Shankar, Dr Rajendra Bhanwaria and Dr Siya Ram Meena with Mr Kishor Singh Assistant Agriculture Officer, Department of Agriculture interacted with more than 250 farmers. Dr Bhanwaria welcomed the farmers & dignitaries and briefed them about CSIR-Aroma Mission, Dr Meena discussed about Agro technology including cultivation practices and economics of the aromatic crops (Lemongrass, Rosagrass, Himrosa, etc.) under aroma mission suitable for Jodhpur district (Rajasthan). Dr Shankar apprised about how to increase additional income through value addition and uses of aromatic crops in marketed products. Mr Sumeet Maheshwari motivated farmers to cultivate aromatic crops. During this programme CN-5/CK-10 varieties were distributed to the farmers. Dr Meena thanked farmers and dignitaries on behalf of Dr. Ram Viswakarma Director, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu. |
