It is pertinent to mention here that in order to facilitate the movement of security convoys for the parliamentary polls starting April 11, the Government has banned Civilian Traffic twice a week (from 4 am to 5 pm on Sunday and Wednesday) on a 300-km stretch of the Highway from Srinagar to Jammu and vice-versa till May 31 whereas no restrictions on the movement of goods in Night on twice a week and during the remaining days Road is functional 24x7 but due to mismanagement of Traffic movement on National Highway, it will take days to reach the Goods from Jammu to Kashmir and Kashmir to Jammu resulting steep hike in the Transportation Charges. It is pertinent to mention here that the Production/Dispatch of Finished Goods of the Industrial Units is suffering very badly due to transit delay resulting huge financial losses to the Unit Holders and in case of Perishable Items and Milk Products 100% losses reported in some Consignments. |
