| Reasi: Bribe case complainant harassed | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, Apr 13: Some officials of Revenue department in Reasi district have been accused of harassing a complainant in a bribery case.
Vikrant Kumar Sharma had lodged a complaint against the Lambardar Pouni and Patwari Pouni for taking Rs 2000 from him in lieu of issuing a certified copy of his land. The document was however never issued.
After formally lodging a complaint, the Revenue department ordered an inquiry into the matter. Instead of completing inquiry, the complainant is however being harassed by the officials in the name of inquiry.
The concerned Patwari summoned the complainant many times and later Tehsildar also called him separately Moreover, the CID Pouni also summoned him to know about the matter and "harassed him with questions," he alleged. He said that he had lodged complaint to seek justice, but it has added to his woes as he has to visit the Revenue office quite often to face questioning. "It clearly shows that they want to put mental pressure on me in this case so that I backtrack from my statement," he said.
He appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Reasi to personally look into the matter so that justice is done.
Pertinently, a video had gone viral in which Lamberdar Pouni had confessed having taken Rs 2000 from the man for issuing a certified copy of his land. The Lamberdar had said that he had to pay the money to Patwari Pouni for the job. |
