Early Times Report
Udhampur, Apr 13: People of Incha tehsil in Ramnagar area of Udhampur are facing huge problems in absence of drinking water, but the concerned authorities are doing nothing concrete in this regard. Local residents told Early Times that there is no water supply in these villages which has made the life of people miserable. The PHE department had constructed water tanks in this panchayat some years ago but they have failed to provide proper water supply. "We have no water to drink, to wash clothes. Our cattle too are suffering without water in summer season," said a local woman. Mobin Banday, another villager, said their women folk has to trek one and half kilometer daily on rocky terrain to get water to make their kitchens function smoothly. "In winter season we get the water for drinking and other domestic works from some natural resources. But we are facing lot of problems due to the shortage of water in summer season because natural resources of water are dried. The authorities failed to provide the proper water supply in this Panchayat," he said. Another local from this village said that it was a violation of human rights and fundamental rights as water is basic requirement for life. The villagers have appealed to the Governor SP Malik and DC Udhampur Piyush Singla to immediately look into the matter and arrange water supply to their Panchayat. |
