A vehicle bearing registration No. JK02AL-2470 which used by the militants was found abandoned by the police and the army from the outskirts of Kishtwar town near Grid Station Cherhar-Hanjola. It suggests that the militants involved in the killings had escaped towards Dachhan by crossing the Chenab river near Dool. The vehicle, according to the sources, is Alto LXI BS III registered on the name of Budhi Singh on 13-08-2009 with RTO office Jammu. Subsequently, the vehicle was passed on to someone from Padder area from where it reached to the culprit identified as Zahid Hussain Sagar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sagar, of Krusa Sounder Dachhan, at present near Girls Higher Secondary School Kishtwar. Zahid is said to be a motor mechanic. Following the seizure of the vehicle and surfacing of Zahid's name, Kishtwar police has sought the help from the people to help them in tracking the culprit who is key in identification of the militants involved in killing of top RSS leader. The sources said that Kishtwar police has also zeroed in on three other suspects beside had detained several others for questioning. The brother of the main suspect is also said to be a surrendered militant. However, as of now Kishtwar police is verifying his role as well in the case. Meanwhile, curfew continued in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas on fifth consecutive day on Saturday. On Friday, curfew was relaxed for one hour in some parts of uptown and down town of Kishtwar. But despite curfew, protests were held by the people at various places demanding immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the killings and transfer of DC Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana. The angry people also demanded handing over of Kishtwar to army and imposition of AFSPA in the district. However a senior army officer told the "Early Times" that like in other part of the state, AFSPA is already in place in Kishtwar district. He said that other than Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh, all other districts of the state are under AFSPA. The protestors threatened to intensify the protest in case the government fails to fulfill the demand of public without any delay. Later the people dispersed off peacefully. The army, CRPF and police continue house to house searches in Kishtwar town. On Saturday searches were conducted in the areas of Gudhali Chowk, Abu Bakar Mohallah, Shaheedi Road and other areas. |
