Azad Asks Modi Govt to Act Cautiously, Says Wrong Step Might Precipitate 'Deep Crisis' | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 2: Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday cautioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi to act cautiously in Jammu and Kashmir issue, as any wrong step might precipitate a deep crisis in the ongoing atmosphere of heightened insecurity and fear. The statement by the senior leader arrived after Centre asked pilgrims of the annual Amarnath Yatra, along with tourists in Jammu & Kashmir to curtail their visit immediately. Expressing his concern, Azad said, as quoted by news agency, "Massive build-up of security forces, curtailment of Amarnath Yatra and also unprecedented advisories being issued to tourists, yatris and civilians are creating an atmosphere of heightened insecurity and fear. We urge GoI not to take any decision which would precipitate a deep crisis." Jammu and Kashmir: After Security Advisory, Srinagar Airport Director Call Special Committee Meeting Adding more, he mentioned that Congress's J&K Policy Planning Group met after Centre's advisory was issued. Briefing the details, Azad said, "J&K Policy Planning Group of Congress met today under the chairmanship of Dr Manmohan Singh. Deep concern was expressed at continuous reports emanating from both Home Ministry and J&K govt which were creating an atmosphere of panic and apprehension about intentions of the GoI. |
