No mention of Articles 35A, 370! what NC discussed with PM? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 2: Even as the National Conference had claimed to be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue of Articles 35A and 370 seeking the safeguard of these laws, there was no mention of the twin laws in party handout as released in connection with the meeting. On August 1, three of the senior NC leaders including Dr Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Justice Retd Hasnain Masoodi had called on the Prime Minister for a meeting in the national capital. As per the NC, the meeting lasted for around twenty minutes. Though the party instantly released a handout in connection with the same, there was no particular mention of Article 35 A and 370. The party said it discussed holding of elections and that New Delhi should wait for the court verdict of various cases pending before the court of law. But the agenda for which the party had claimed to be meeting the premier was nowhere mentioned. Political analyst have questioned if the party had gone to meet the PM to improve personal relations with the central government in the garb of Articles 35A and 370. "When even the handout pertaining to the meeting doesn't speak of these laws in particular how can you expect them to have discussed it in reality? Questions will always remain behind the reason of seeking appointment with the PM," said a political commentator. The political parties like the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement have already started raising questions over the way the NC held the meeting. The Kashmir based regional parties have been saying that the NC should have waited for an all party meeting to be held in Srinagar before seeking appointment with the PM. "One particular party seeking appointment with the PM and not speaking about the issue on which the meeting was sought only raises questions," said a politician. Despite repeated attempts, the concerned in the NC couldn't be contacted for comments. |
