Srinagar, July 26: Despite top police officials claiming that "Srinagar is safe" and there are no militants present in the city, security has been beefed up amid inputs that rebel group of Hizbul Mujahideen led by Qayoom Najar operating in north Kashmir are planning to strike in the city.

The Crime Branch had registered multiple cases in Srinagar against the SICOP in 2014, a secret enquiry was conducted in month of June-July 2014.
