Bureaucrats, legislators asked to vacate Circuit House for guests | 101 SCIENCE CONGRESS | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 30: Three days ahead of the 101th Science Congress in the winter capital, the State Government today asked senior Government functionaries, legislators, and journalists putting up at the Circuit House, Jammu to vacate the premises. Reports said that General Administration Department (GAD) in a communique to the Assistant Director Hospitality and Protocol, Imtiyaz Ahmed today asked him to get the premises vacated within two days for the dignitaries visiting the winter capital to attend the Congress. Simultaneously, the Hospitality and Protocol department has asked the senior Government functionaries, legislators and journalists to vacate the rooms at the earliest. The Science Congress being held at the University of Jammu from 3rd - 7th February 2014, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh. The PM will return to New Delhi after inaugurating the Congress. "We have been asked to leave within two days. If the Government had to accommodate the guests at the Circuit House, they should have made alternative arrangements for us. This is humiliating," a senior official said. The inmates, he said, would have preferred to stay in the hotels to avoid inconvenience during the five day meet. However, all the hotels, he said, are already booked. "Around 8000 delegates including academicians, scholars, scientists and the students from within and outside the State will be attending this Congress. All hotels are booked. We're thinking to return to Valley till the session is over," he added. Director, Hospitality and Protocol department, Hashmat Ullah said that Government had issued orders asking us to get the premises vacated for seven days beginning from February 1st. "We have to make arrangements for the guests visiting the Science Congress," he added. |
