Cong never favoured Gen V K Singh's appearance before LC committee | | | early times report JAMMU, Jan 30: Member Parliament and Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president Saif-ud-Din Soz today said the former Army Chief Gen V K Singh should not be asked to appear in person before the privilege committee of Legislative Council. "Congress was never in favour of Gen Singh's appearance in person before the Privilege Committee of the Legislative Council,'' Soz told reporters at the sidelines of a function organized to mark death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He added that Gen Singh is a man of repute and stature, so he should not be asked to appear in person but his written replies submitted to the Committee shall be considered. Meanwhile on alleged 'rift' between the Congress and the National Conference, Soz said that party will remain with its coalition partner to complete its full term. "There are no differences among us on any issue," Soz said adding that\ the Cabinet Sub Committee has covered all the districts of the state and hoped that justice will be done to all. However, on 73rd amendments, he said that the party has submitted its report on various issues to the High Command for further action. |
