Ungrateful, shameless Geelani targets Delhi | Befooling Kashmiri Muslims | | Rustam JAMMU, Sept 30: Vested interests in the Kashmir valley, especially educated, have unleashed a misinformation campaign against New Delhi, Indian media and Army and other agencies of the Union Government. Their single-point agenda is to mislead and hoodwink the flood-affected Kashmiri Muslims and create hatred between them and New Delhi so that they remain somewhat relevant. They are using social media to the hilt. Section of biased press in the Valley too have joined the misinformation campaign and, unlike the Jammu press, only focusing on Kashmir and the losses it suffered as well as its requirements. It's not just the vested interests who are playing mischief and provoking Kashmiri Muslims. Separatists, as was expected, too have intensified their hate-India campaign and their objective is the same: Create distrust between the dominant section of Kashmiri Muslim society that has been at the helm of affairs since October 1947 and New Delhi. These separatists also include the shameless Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Yasin Malik, who also got the Army support to save their lives. On the one hand, Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasin Malik and others of their ilk are trying to give a sectarian orientation to the tragedy and seeking help from the international community, especially the Organization of Islamic Conference, on the other, they are seeking to tell the international community that New Delhi willfully left the Kashmiri Muslims to die in floods. Only on Monday, Geelani came out with a highly nasty statement to this effect. Shamelessly accusing policy-makers in New Delhi of being "indifferent" to the Kashmiri Muslims, the ungrateful Geelani said: "At the time of floods, they left Kashmiris to die and after the deluge they are forced to die of starvation". "The communal rulers of India are very much satisfied with the situation in Kashmir and want Kashmiris to struggle for decades for rehabilitation and be forced to live a miserable life. Policy-makers of India do not want international aid to reach the flood-affected people. They view that poverty will bring down the freedom sentiments of Kashmiris and they will compromise over the Indian slavery…This attitude of India during and after the floods has strengthened the resolve of Kashmiris and have vindicated our belief that India only wants land and has nothing to do with the difficulties of its people," he said in a statement. How ungrateful he and others of their ilk have turned! They forgot that nearly 30,000 jawans and officers risked their lives and worked day and night to not only rescue the trapped people but also to provide relief, including food, biscuits, water, medicines, blankets, tents and so on. Had the Army, Air Force, Navy, DMRF, CRPF and BSF not swung into action, the floods would taken away thousands of lives in the Valley. Credit goes to them that they didn't care for themselves and their families, some of them also trapped, and put in all in the rescue and relief operations. The separatists also forgot that the Government of India immediately sanctioned a huge financial package of Rs 1100 crore and held out a categorical assurance that New Delhi would do all that was needed to be done in the state in this hour of crisis. More importantly, they have forgotten that it was the Omar Abdullah-led NC-Congress coalition Government which failed the people of the state, as it remains almost dysfunctional even after more than 20 days of the tragedy. The nation is sending relief material but it is the ineffective and callous state Government and its irresponsible administrative machinery which has not been able to distribute relief in the manner and speed it should be. That these extremists, fanatics and Pakistani agents have no grouse against the state Government and Ministers and officers who fled away to safer places outside Srinagar, including Delhi and elsewhere and that they are targeting only New Delhi for no cause speaks for itself. Let them say whatever they want. The fact remains that the civilized world knows who did what in Kashmir and Jammu during and after the floods. The world knows that the Indian Prime Minister was so deeply shocked that he raised this issue during his maiden address in the United Nations General Assembly and declared that India was also prepared to help the flood-affected people of Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir. |
