Lohai BDO office operating from Billawar for 33 yrs | Locals travel 31 km to meet block officers for their works | | Early Times Report
Billawar, March 3: Block Development Office (BDO), Lohai Malhar, was unlawfully shifted to Billawar town in 1982 and since then it has been operating from there. People travel 31 km to approach the officials for their minor works. The shifting of the office to Billawar town affects development works in the remote 18 panchayats of Lohai Malhar. A large number of people today highlighted the issue before media persons and sought immediate functioning of the BDO office at Lohai Malhar where the building was in deteriorating condition and had never been used by the department. Astonishingly, none of the officials ever visited the remotest areas of Lohai Malhar in the last 33 years that had affected the development works there, they said. Shama Din of Lohai claimed that Lohai Malhar BDO office never opened in the village since its inauguration in 1982. This had resulted in the neglect of the area and badly affected development activities, he added. Even the works taken up under MNREGA had not been completed, Din alleged. Mushtaq Ahmad said locals were suffering a lot due to the non-availability of facilities in the area. The people demanded immediate shifting of the BDO office to its actual place so that development works were initiated for proper development of the area. |
