Finance section of DSE seek 'monetary favours' in lieu of salary release | Teachers facing brunt of mal practices at DSE | | Arun Singh Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 3: The teaching fraternity which is entrusted to instill moral values to the new generation is itself facing burnt of alleged 'mal-practice' at the 'finance section' of the Director School Education. In particular the teachers who want their dues under 'new pension scheme', have to grease the palms of the employees at the concerned department. Victimized by this malpractice, some distressed teachers from Samba district employed under New Pension Scheme had sent a complaint through mail to the new Director School Education Jammu, Simrandeep Singh around two weeks ago regarding the difficulties being faced by them in getting their salary released. In the complaint sent to DSE, they alleged that some staff members in Finance Section of Directorate School Education Jammu are grossly indulged in corrupt malpractice and demand money in lieu of their salary release. This problem particularly been faced by most of the teachers recruited under New Pension Scheme since 2010 when this scheme was implemented. They alleged that their salary is generally delayed for two or three months to put mental pressure on them to grease their palms. "Whenever we visited the department requesting them to release their salary the staff members of Finance Section ignored our demands on the pretext of shortage of the funds," they said adding that finding no way out, we had to give them monetary favors to get our salary released. The teachers said the situation did not improve and this practice remained continue. They said that moreover, Finance Section selectively targets some schools and similarly many teachers in the district also harassed by this section demands monetary favors to get their salary released. It is pertinent to mention here that new Director School Education Jammu, Simrandeep Singh, had launched an e-mail [email protected] in public domain so that anybody facing problems regarding this department can send his/her complaint on this e-mail. When contacted, Director School Education admitted that such malpractices were going in finance section of the department and informed that he had taken a strong cognizance of the complaints sent by some teachers through e-mail. "I don't rule out that this malpractice is not going on in Finance Section of the Directorate. After receiving this complaint and many other such complaints, I have initiated a discrete inquiry within the department to find out the facts and reshuffled the section," Director said. He said that Directorate of School Education gets funds for the salary of the teachers recruited under New Pension Scheme (NPS) in installments from secretariat and the Finance Section of the department disbursed it selectively. "In order to streamline and to do away with this menace, we have formulated new method for the disbursement of salary to the teachers by inviting request from them," he said adding that in this method every school will send us request for release of salary and their request will be entertained according to their date of receipt. |
