Rains result in leakage of Mendhar college building roof | Equipments worth lakhs damaged | | M S Nazki
Early Times Report
MENDHAR, March 3: The rains that lashed the region for two consecutive days have resulted in the leakage of the roof of government degree college, Mendhar. The rainwater leaking from the roof fell on the costly equipments in the laboratory and projector in the smart class, damaging them. Estimated loss was put at lakhs of rupees. The college building was constructed by NBCC in 2012 and since then its roof had been leaking during rains, according to college principal, Prof Shabir Hussain Shah. He said ceiling fans, tubelights, projector of smart class and laboratory equipments were damaged due to the rainwater that leaked from the roof and fell on them. Since there was no dry space left inside the classrooms and the examination hall, the part III final year exam was taken by the students in the college verandah. The principal said they had apprised the NBCC of the problem but any action from their side was yet awaited. NBCC general manager Mohammad Rafiq confessed to the leaking problem in the building. "We will start the repair work in the building in 10 to 15 days," he said. It is surprising to note that that soon after its construction by NBCC, the building roof had started leaking during rains. |
